The history of the PROJAN Foundation

The "PROJAN" Waksmundzki Family Fundation was established in January 2009. When the foundation began its activities had already taken care of children from the Family Children's Home in Białogard. For this reason, the first statutory program of the Foundation, which was created in the same year, was the "PROrodzinie" program addressed to large families, foster families and orphanages.

Another program the foundation launched in 2010, was the "PROsenior" program implemented in order to support older people in terms of their basic needs, to improve their knowledge and facilitate their integration into society. Under this program, the foundation organizes an annual meeting for all its beneficiaries combined with artistic and educational program - "Evening for Seniors".

In 2011, the foundation launched the next program – the "PROzdrowie" , on the basis of which the foundation provide financial and in-kind support to seriously ill persons, in particular children.

Since 2011, the foundation collaborates with a number of consultants, including experts on social assistance and rehabilitation, particularly in the field of MPD and autism, neuro-speech therapist and psychologist.

Starting from 2012, the foundation provides grants to organizations whose purpose of the action is consistent with the purpose of the PROJAN foundation. May be mentioned: the association "Mierz wysoko" leading youth club on Brzeska Street in Warsaw, the orphanage run by Franciscan Sisters of Mary's Familly in Warsaw and the school for autistic children "Krok po kroku" in Warsaw.

In July 2012 , the Foundation joined the National Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations . Membership in this organization enables the foundation to exchange of experiences with other NGOs, to find a reliable partner for the projects, to participate in valuable training and conferences.

In 2012, with substantive support of the Oncology Centre - Institute of Maria Sklodowska- Curie in Gliwice, the foundation published a booklet addressed to patients whose thyroid cancer was diagnosed, which is a collection of basic information about the disease. In 2013 was published analogous brochure on colorectal cancer.

Year 2013 was a special year for the Foundation and its beneficiaries. On 14th – 16th of June 2013 , the Foundation organized in Jozefow (Warsaw suburbs) - for all beneficiaries of the "PROrodzinie" and "PROzdrowie" programs - weekend of rehabilitation and support . With the help of professionals the foundation was able to organize a range of activities including physiotherapy MPD, neuro – speech therapy, activities dedicated to children with autism and events aimed at the integration of children with mental disabilities. This congress was the realization of the main idea of the foundation. Thus, the most important thing for the foundation is the direct contact with the man who helps for. "Key support is possible only when we find out about the needs of children and their families we suport, on our own eyes." - says Katarzyna Waksmundzka - President of the PROJAN foundation.

Year 2014 began with preparations for the moving out of the Foundation office. Due to the continuous expansion of the foundation activity, increasing of the number of beneficiaries and hence hiring new employees and volunteers, the current location became too small. Therefore, in September, the office has been transferred from Mokotow to Wilanow to a much bigger building. This change not only facilitated our work, but allowed the implementation of new ideas, such as: organizing various workshops for Seniors and on-site consulting beneficiaries with specialists in various fields.
Thanks to the new headquarter, in January 2015 the Foundation organized for a first time a therapeutic stay for children with CP, while another one in June for children with autism spectrum disorders. Throughout the year the Foundation organized workshops for Seniors, among others, concerning the assertiveness and computer training. Many other workshops and therapeutic stays are planned.

How increase the number of PROJAN foundation's beneficiaries:

At the end of 2011, the foundation provided assistance to the following number of beneficiaries: the "PROrodzinie" program: 5 families, the "PROzdrowie" program: 9 people, the "PROsenior" program: 100 people. In 2012, a group of beneficiaries of the Foundation increased, so that at the end of this year in the "PROrodzinie" program were 13 families, in the "PROzdrowie" program: 35 people and in the "PROsenior" program: 123 people. Since 2013, the foundation has been helping in total 40 people in the "PROzdrowie" program.
